So the Southern California Renaissance Faire has come to an end. No more running around the streets in a bodice and selling puppets. But hopefully I will create more artwork.
But in other news, I applied for a job internship with Nickelodeon for a Digital Illustration position. I would be helping with their Neopets department doing this and that. I so want this job, it's perfect for me and everything I want to do as a career.
So send me all your good vibes in hopes that I get this job. I know I can do it and that it would be a great experience and opportunity.
Also went to a Jonathan Coulton concert last night in Hollywood, CA and got Rick Rolled by this creative genius. I laughed so hard that I was afraid that I was going to loose my voice. I got to hear a new song he made while on tour about a vampire. It was great.
Also got to hear from Paul & Storm and became an automatic fan. I liked that they weren't just singers, but comedic actors as well.
Also bumped into Felicia Day in my normal nerdy commute to the Jonathan Coulton concert. All of my friends joke that we're unknowingly stalking each other because we keep running into each other. Which my husband had to blurt out last night to her, I'm such an easy person to embarrass. But I bumped into her and Sandeep while trying to find my friends seated close to the front row of the theater, gave them a hug while I said "Hi" and then continued to find my friends. They're such nice people and I'm so happy that their show "The Guild" (Go check out if you haven't - DO IT NOW! :P) has done as well as it has.
But with Faire over, either I will get the Nickelodeon job, or I'll resume doing my webcomics. Oh how I have ideas for "Bits of Nothing". I'll give one hint - "Live long and prosper".
I'm such a dork. I always wanted to create a community site for nerdy women like me and have created forum groups that just tended to flop. But I for my final I had to create a site and decided that I would create the Nerdy Chix site once and for all. So for the last two weeks I've been doing nothing but creating this site.
So far so good. I have the current topic being World of Warcraft since many of the people that were submitting articles play World of Warcraft - especially right now with Wrath of the Lich King's launch in November.
I have also done a couple of interviews of Raven Walker, Taen, & Sara Quijada. Plan on doing more in the future. You can view them here: http://nerdychix.net/interview.html
I am welcoming anyone that is interested in submitting an article to Nerdy Chix can. Either you can submit your own World of Warcraft article or you can go to this LINK to view the next topic I will be working on putting together.
I'm terrible at updating my Vox account. I never was really all that good at blogging really. But I do try to update my twitter when ever possible. Though I don't twitter as much as others I know.
Check it out here: http://twitter.com/artofdawn
The reason why I like Twitter is because I can post from my phone quick little snippets of my life. When blogging I feel like I have to post a huge long blog, on twitter it encourages me to only post something with only 140 letters in it.
Do you have any crazy superstitions?
Of course I do! I'm a witch! I keep a stone that I charmed in my wallet to attract money to me. I have a broom at my door that I turn up side down when I don't want visitors. I have once sprinkled salt on the broom because guests wouldn't leave. Etc.

Have you ever broken a bone? If not, what's the worst injury you've sustained?
I've never broken anything, but I've hurt myself alot. With martial arts and my upbringing, I'm really good at taking pain. So pain usually isn't the factor on deciding what is the worst injury.
I normally would have said that it was the time I had a really bad concussion - nothing bothers me more than not remembering anything. That was until last November...
I sprained my wrist really badly...not just any wrist...my right wrist - my art creating wrist. And it was finals week and couldn't finish any of the finals for my art classes like I would have liked. Even after it was done, my wrist would be sprained for another 5 weeks. Nothing is worse on an artist than not being able to create.
How long do you take in the shower?
Submitted by Strive2Be.
Time it takes to take a shower without washing my hair: 20 minutes
Time it takes to take a shower with wasing my hair: 45 minutes (I have long-thick-hispanic hair)
Time I take to have a relaxing shower: 1 hour
Out of anyone in your address book, with whom would you most like to have lunch today?
My husband (Clint), we never really get to be together with my crazy schedule.
I have been in a mood lately, I feel like being by myself a lot. Friends from all around feel a desire to pull me out of the apartment because they know that I've been stressing over finding a job, San Diego Comic Convention, preparing for Fall semester, and a graphic design job meeting this Wednesday with a potential client. The thing is that I don't feel like being social really right now, and most are worried that it's depression.
I feel stressed, but not depressed. I relax once in a while, and how I really enjoy doing that is by sitting in the bath - reading a book. Right now I'm reading "A Game of Thrones". Really interesting book that I got from a friend that lives a bit away.
I also don't want to be gone for hours doing something, a couple of hours is fine to just relax and then I need to get back to work.
But I've been looking for art jobs, I actually - by an act of fate - met a woman during jury duty who saw my artwork and wanted me to show my portfolio to her studio manager. But she also wanted me to contact her husband who is like an art agent, so I've been working myself hard trying to put together a decent portfolio. Not an easy task for someone who isn't a "full of herself" artist and thinks that she doesn't have too much of anything that would stand out as being amazing work.
I don't want to show them my website since I want to really completely fix it up. So I've put together an online portfolio using carbonmade.com. Check it out if you wish: http://artofdawn.carbonmade.com/
Good luck! Sounds like an awesome internship! read more
